My Guiding Principles

"If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to collect wood and don’t assign tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.” (Antoine de Saint Exupéry)

Hi! I’m Brenton.

My coaching and mentoring experience includes work with individuals and teams. I’m drawn to purpose-driven work and the principles of “conscious leadership” and "conscious culture" where companies and leaders care about their people as much as they care about their business outcomes, and I endeavor to embody these ideals in my own leadership and coaching practice.

I’ve always been drawn to operations work because, at the core of it all, I love helping people. I help my clients accomplish Herculean tasks more effectively, particularly through the use of roadmaps, project plans, project management tools, CRM platforms, standard operating procedures, and knowledge bases ("wikis"). Throughout my career, I’ve been adept at creating alignment around key priorities and initiatives, and I encourage my clients to take a people-focused approach to operations where they continuously collect feedback in order to improve processes and outcomes.

I recently earned a Master of Science degree in Management with a research focus in organizational effectiveness, posing the question, “How can a company create a culture which optimizes top performance and high morale?” My research highlighted the efficacy of clearly-articulated purpose and values, organization-wide goal setting, promoting a culture of transparency, and using purpose, autonomy, and training to fuel employee engagement.

As the founder of Effective Impact Advisors (effectiveimpactadvisors.com), I provide coaching and operations consulting services. My approach to personal and professional growth is simple: effective, actionable changes over time can create profound and lasting transformation. I work with my clients — primarily nonprofit organizations and leaders in a variety of fields and industries — to develop realistic action plans to turn their big dreams into reality.

Outside of work, you'll find me training for my next endurance race while raising money for a great cause. In terms of philanthropy, I'm particularly interested in the principles of effective altruism.

I enjoy meeting new people and learning new perspectives. Please reach out to me if you’d like to chat - it would be great to connect!
